Comfortable Corners of Home

This has been a crazy day, but I am done with my Ind. Business Plan for JenyPenny, finished a quiz, got jenypenny.etsy.com flowers packed for the mail tomorrow and read a few blogs off my Google Reader.  Oh HOW I love you Google Reader.  Seriously if you don't have it, get it!

No time to work on projects tonight, I am holding out hope for later this week.  In the meantime I just got a bunch of photos edited and on my flickr site.  This one makes me feel so warm and wonderful I just had to share. Nice new bedding..washed twice with my sacred Tide Lavender and on the bed.  Happiness.

Oh and...here is a NEW fabulous blog Domestic PDX.  Love her collage work.

Good Night from the South.

This photo inspires me to create...Anthro love

Tomorrow I am going to take a moment out of school work, photoshop, Lightroom and writing an individual business plan to interpret this picture and create art.  Sometime you just have to put the work aside and get your hands dirty.  I will post the results later

Anthrolove

Still going through e-pictures looking for the favorites...to hang in the house, create a project and include in our "Save the Dates."  These photos fill me with such love.  It is pretty amazing when you actual plan a wedding to your best friend.  John always brings the joy & the silly.

E-Pic

Sunday night...means another five days before I can rest and really create art again.  These were my favorite finds of the weekend.

1.  Love this blog- http://eachpennypretty.blogspot.com/

2.  Love, love, love this band.  Buy their new record TONIGHT.  Sleeping at Last

3.  Lavender & Goat Cheese gelato from Whole Foods.  Amazing.

4.  Mama Kim's Korean- Visit if you find yourself in downtown Charleston.

So that was my weekend.  Looking forward to surviving this week and finding time to buy more crunchy low-carb soy butter & low sugar jelly.  The happiness in this low carb/ low GI girls heart.

*Edited to add...all engagement photos taken by the VERY TALENTED ShannonMichelePhotography.

Creating a critique group for art & design...

For a couple of weeks I have been thinking about forming an informal critique blog to help indie artist and designers get feedback on their work.  I am pretty sure this is stemming from two things.

1.  I am currently obtaining an AFA in Commercial Graphic design and over the last three semesters I have noticed my work change based on the critiques I receive from my professors and peers.  Calling out things I could have done better almost acts like a toolbox I carry from one project to the next.  It has improved the quality of my work.

2.  I had a few of my jenypenny.etsy.com pieces selected by an editor of "InStyle Magazine" for possibly publication in the December issue.  They requested to see a sample of my work and I sent along about 15 pieces.  Would they like them?  What is universally wrong about them?  Is the quality sub-par? Are the color combinations weird?  These are all things I was thinking about after sending them. (see a few examples below)

I would love a way to have a group of people critique my paintings, mixed media projects and even scrapbook pages I am considering submitting.  Currently if I post something in a scrapbook gallery, on Facebook or even flickr the comments are always supportive.  I appreciate those, but what I really need to improve on my craft is a real critique.

Would anyone else appreciate this kind of blog group?  Thoughts?

Our Engagement Pictures...Sneak Peek

I am just so thrilled with these pictures.  I love how they captured the relaxed and funny spirit both John and I have.  I am very much in love and it shows through each and everyone one of these photos.  Stay tuned...I have a project planned to house all these photos!  I can't wait to get the disk.

I was even wearing my favorite jenypenny.etsy.com flower in my hair!  I am really looking forward to the wedding and I will start sharing all the luscious details here...also on johnandjeny.com (our personal blog.)

Happiness

St. Augustine, FL, originally uploaded by jenypenny.

What a wonderful vacation to Amelia Island & St. Augustine. I am so happy that I got a few days off before the CRAZINESS of the Fall semester started.
John and I spent such a relaxing time together. I even read 1.5 books! I have so many creative things in the works right now that my head is spinning. Also, question...

Does anyone know how to move post from blogger into typepad? I think I just want to have one blog now.

she is good for the soul

I lost my dog Triplee two years ago this month. It was one of the hardest losses I have ever experienced. She was my best friend at times and I fully believe she stayed with me until she knew I was going to be ok. 2007 was filled with challenges and Trips made sure the keep me grounded. I never thought i could love another dog. Ever. Until I got Bella-boo (pictured above.) She is the sweetest, cuddle ball and she brightens everyday....when she isn't challenging me with her terrible two's. img00598

finding peace

I took this picture on Saturday evening crossing the intercoastal waterway. I am struggling with crazy anxiety, struggling with old parts of me trying to take control back. I am ready to find peace again. img00601

simple suggestion- cherries

cherries, originally uploaded by jenypenny.

Just rinising these cherries for my lunch and I noticed how happy they looked in the silver bowl. They actually made me stop for a second and find the camera. The perfect example of a simple suggestion.
