npr
i often wonder what my life was like before I discovered "npr." I listen to these short stories that touch a nerve in less than a minute and I am transported. I am taken away from the traffic (that I sit in for hours on end everyday) and I am whisked to a lonely prison in South Africa, or the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
yesterday there was a message on my voice mail at work. my mom called to tell me we have a pope- he is german. i couldn't wait to get into my car and listen to the colorful reports from Rome that i was sure npr would have. i wasn't disappointed i got to hear the bells and the exclamation of , "Viva il Papa!”
i think that I love npr so much because it gives me a chance to exercise my imagination- i get to really develop a visual sense just based on the audio experience- that is kind of how i think about scrapbooking. i imagine a page in my mind and then find the pictures that are best suited for the page. that means sometimes i have pages that just haven't found the right pictures yet!
